The Board has been discussing a project they would like to introduce and develop amongst ALTO members. This is the idea of a standardised information exchange between schools and agents in the language travel industry: the ALTO Standard.
If all ALTO member schools started to feature their prices in a previously agreed format, the time and energy spent on interpreting and calculating the course fees would reduce significantly from the agents’ point of view. In return, the possibility of human mistake would be reduced or eliminated and thus be financially beneficial to the schools.
This could be the end of price lists, promotion sheets and prices featured on brochures and a way to dynamic pricing, which again was a very popular concept for both schools and agents during our Industry Panel discussions last year.
After circulating an initial draft we have now gathered comments from our members in order to create a blue print for information exchange, stay tuned for further details on the development of this project.
