Global Trends for the Language Travel Industry - Berlin event report

Unstable economies, devalued currencies and political tensions may have shaken student mobility in Brazil, Spain, Russia and Turkey in recent years, but educators need not lose hope.

This was the message shared by representatives of agency associations in the four countries, during ALTO’s panel on market trends, held during ICEF Berlin.

Coming together for a day of pre-workshop networking and market intelligence, ALTO members gained valuable insights on how to better engage with agencies during the afternoon panel session.

Panelists were optimistic about the resilience of their respective outbound markets, despite economic and political obstacles, and said that demand for language study abroad remains alive and well.

Free Star Wars tickets! not in our power to offer to every participant unfortunately, but the benefit of completing our industry-wide benchmarking survey is far greater than a cinema experience! Complete the survey and get a free copy of the full report AND the country specific report of your market (provided your market submits sufficient number of surveys).

ALTO is working with Deloitte on this project in order to ensure professionalism and absolute security of the submitted data. Take 20-25 minutes of your time today or during the holidays and participate in the survey! Please remember that we are trying to highlight the importance of the language travel industry within the global economy, and we need your data to achieve this.

"Responding to the Market" ALTO Conference San Francisco 28th-30th April 2016 - registration is open

Our 2-day Professional Development and Networking Conference is moving to San Francisco! The theme of the conference in 2016 is "Responding to the Market" where we plan to address the challenges that business owners and senior managers are facing in the current turbulent economic environment. Join us to exchange ideas with fellow decision makers and learn from our keynote speakers!

Our first invited speaker is Michele Wucker, author of The Gray Rhino: How to Recognize and Act on the Obvious Dangers We Ignore.
Gray Rhino events are highly probable, give clear warnings and have high impact. Yet all too often, leaders fail to plan for, recognize, or respond to obvious dangers, from the personal to the organizational to the political to the global level: financial crisis, industry disruptions, failing infrastructure, the ageing of the workforce, climate change and more. The most successful organizations are the ones that identify and confront Gray Rhino threats instead of letting themselves be trampled. Michele’s provocative talk lays out a framework for recognizing Gray Rhinos and the pitfalls and opportunities at each of their five stages, from denial to action –not just to avoid highly obvious dangers, but to see opportunities where others do not.

Read more and register here, the conference is open to members and non-members. The first 10 valid registrations with payment received are going to get a signed copy of The Gray Rhino in SF!
