The Gray Rhino: How to Recognize and Respond to the Obvious Dangers We Ignore

Keynote summary: Gray Rhino events are highly probable, give clear warnings and have high impact. Yet all too often, leaders fail to plan for, recognize, or respond to obvious dangers, from the personal to the organizational to the political to the global level: financial crisis, industry disruptions, failing infrastructure, the ageing of the workforce, climate change and more.

David is a Managing Director of Parthenon Group EY based in the San Francisco office and is focused on the education and private equity sectors. He will join us at the conference and give us an overview of the international education market and discuss the Evolution in pathways markets in more detail.

About Parthenon Group EY (Ernst & Young): Parthenon Group s a global consultancy dedicated to the education sector providing end-to-end services to education providers, policymakers and investors.
We have served as strategic advisors to the global education sector since 1991, completing more than 900 projects across 80 countries. By working across both the public and private sector, we offer clients a perspective that is challenging for any single organization to access: we see both the “supply” and “demand” sides of education around the world, and monitor trends as they play out on a national and global level. Parthenon, in combination with the broader EY organization, offers our clients a whole suite of capabilities, from strategy through implementation. We leverage our experience to help our clients develop actionable strategies for growth so your organization can reach its full potential.

Dealing with Disruption by Vikas Shah

Keynote outline:
The language and education travel industry is going through significant disruption, with volatile global markets, the threat of international terrorism, challenging international border policies and the growth of low-cost digital competition. In this session, we’ll look at how your business can turn this into a valuable competitive advantage & compete.
Vikas will cover the following sessions:
The needs of the future workplace The world is changing, and we’re moving into a knowledge-economy which requires a whole new set of skills, attitudes and outlooks – we’re moving into a world of deep-learning and high performance skills. This section will take a look at what that means, and how you need to work with your suppliers and customers to lever this.
Disruption Using lessons from the birth of Apple, Microsoft, Google and more, we’ll take a deep-dive into what those entrepreneurs did to understand disruption, and how they keep disrupting over, and over again. Disruption is an integral part of business now and we need to be prepared for it.
Understanding Value We will bring-together the thinking and discussions in the above to rip apart and rebuild our understanding of what the value is that we offer to our suppliers and customers.
